![]() Seems like people only come on here with a problem bet rarely the good.At Firepunk Diesel, our Service Department is not just a place for routine maintenance it’s where diesel dreams come to life. Hopefully this can help some one some day. It really stays at 170F-176F on my 70 mile commute every day back and forth. It takes a 2hr 75mph drive to reach that and even then will cycle through 177F to 183F. I am not really seeing any of the 180s anymore. If I am at 25%+ applied pedal position (APP) then it's 170s-200s psi at the shift points. Under light throttle it will shift at 120s-130s. With my Hardway tuning I see it likes to rest at 110psi while crusing speed but will increase as the pedal demands. I only did 3- 2,3,4,5,6 shifts and the 3 was better than the other 2 so maybe it will get better. Tonight I changed the tune to #2 and it shifts like crap in both modes at lock up but it was expected till it relearn the new power or what ever you call it. If I used the exaughst break and held the break lightly to the point it would downshift very cleanly while staying locked and would do so through every gear until I came to a stop or reapplied the throttle. If I let off the pedal and let the rpms drop enough for it to unlock the TC then reapply the throttle it would downshift unlocked for about 2-3 seconds then relock with a good little bump upon lockup. I would also get a 3Rd gear lock up if I was light enough. ![]() Well after talking to a very generous member here who knows these trans very well he told me to try tow/haul mode. I called suncoast and they didn't seem to worried about it. Sometimes 4th gear would shudder and lock up was about a 2 second process where a part of it would too shudder. For a good chunk of the miles I was running non tow haul mode and was not crazy about the shifting. Ok I now have 1500+ miles on the new trans. If you own a jr or comp I would love your input as well. No towing heavy 10k+ pounds till after 1000 miles.Īny questions please ask. Suncoast said to drive "easy" or normal for me for about 600 miles. I know I know "Why have a built trans to not use it?" Well I just wanted to have a good strong trans to pull my 13k lbs 5th wheel. Now I dont do boosted launches or WOT runs EVER so I will not be able to tell you guys how it performs under that but I will at times (rarely) go 50% throttle while driving after I get the beast moving. I cant wait to bump the tune up to #2 (100hp at best*) and see how she shifts under some pedal. As of this post I have about 300 miles with dozens and dozens or 2,3,4,5,6 shifts. I guess my truck had learned to drive with the old trans with faulty pump and TC that its taking a bit to relearn it all. The 4th& Lockup shift gets smoother and smoother even though it's quite a change in rpm and torque. I do notice that my truck is relearning this new trans. One quick down shift to 5th or a speed up to 75mph to higher Rpms brought it back to around 177ish. The temps were in the 183-185 mark when in 6th luged down at like 60mph (at the tuned shift point) for a peroid of time. I was seeing temps between 176-185 (stock was 165-175). I have the deep pan on this but noticed the temps run about 10F hotter. Since I'm still in the break in period I have not pushed the pedal down in 6th to make it up shift into 5th Then you were in 5th unlocked for about 2 seconds then you feel the TC relock with a little bump. From 6th you had to let is ease off to about 49-50mph before it would upshift. 6th was also smooth with the smallest flair of about 25rpm and drops rpm from 1750rpm to 1250rpm.ĭown shifts was a different story. So then from about 32mph to 50mph is all 4th locked then shifts into 5th. It droped rpm from 1750rpm to about 1050rpm. Lock up was at 30mph and I believe is lockup and 4th together. Upon my initial drive I noticed you can feel all the shifts. My tuned shifts points at light throttle are 1st go, 2nd 10mph, 3rd 20mph, 4th & Lockup at 30mph, 5th 50mph, & 6th 60mph This was all under light throttle on Hardway CSP4 tune set at #1 (30hp). Yesterday I was at Hardway performance and had my Suncoast jr installed.
